"Folklore vor Felsen und Reben - Kröv lädt ein zum Tanz auf der Mosel"
A floating stage, framed by the natural
backdrop of the Moselle landscape - a true novelty in the entire region. During
the International Traditional Costume Festival in Kröv, the floating stage is
the focal point of the 4 day extravaganza. Over the 60 year history of this
event, several hundred traditional costume and musical groups have presented
their unique traditions and folklore on the water.
In 2017, the festival will play host to traditional costume and musical groups from Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Hungary, Easter Islands, Portugal and Mallorca. .
The entertainment starts on Friday with the crowning of the new Wine Queen, Elisabeth, and a huge summer's night party with the renowned "ROXXBUSTERS" band . The show kicks off at 10pm, but the duo known as "Borrowed Tunes" will take to the stage at 9pm to get the audience in the party mood.
The highlight on Saturday is the big evening GALA . Under the motto of
"Sumptuous, stylish, serene - the diverse world of traditional costumes" , an attractive of mix of folklore, show and musical elements will all be topped off by the arrival of the 'Mosella' (the wine queen) on the water. Mountains and water immersed in fireworks and thousands of floating lights on the river, combined with spectacular music and an incredible backdrop - it's an experience to set your heart alight. Musical entertainment will be provided after the gala by the Kröv musical society .
From 2.30pm on Sunday the huge festival parade will wind its way through the streets of Kröv. Afterwards, the traditional costume and musical groups will show what they're made of on the floating Moselle stage before the all-female group "Wonderfrolleins" whisk the audience back in time with the cult hits of the 50s and 60s.
The traditional Gräwes lunch takes place in the afternoon of the final day of the festival, framed by a colourful folklore programme and musical entertainment from the Kröv musical society.
